Cambridge has a lot of great cafés, but Modigliani is by far my favourite. The coffee is excellent and the pastries and cakes are superb. I’m moving to a different city soon but as soon as I come back to Cambridge I’m going straight to Modigliani!

Our second visit to Modigliani today to enjoy coffee and stunning cakes. This is a tiny little Italian coffee shop on Mill Road Cambridge. Independent shop which is well worth a visit for the Italian cafe culture enthusiast!

Grazie Emily
Best coffee in Cambridge and absolutely divine burnt Basque cheesecakes - even a pistachio version! I am used to bitter-tasting coffee in Cambridge but at this place the coffee is spot on.

Absolutely LOVE their tiramisu here. £5.90 and it's worth it. No alcohol either making it Muslim friendly. Finally!!! Coffee is obviously great too.

Thanks Saleha ☺️
I've visited Modigliani many times and consistently enjoyed their food and coffee. Their Italian pastries and patisserie are exceptional, making it one of my go-to cafes on Mill Road. The customer service is always top-notch. I love their Pistachio Tiramisu, Italian Donuts, Pistachio Cakes, Coffee Beans etc. My only advice is to visit early in the morning, as their pastries tend to sell out quickly. 😅

I was recommended to try the Mimosa cake (Modigliani cake) which is a cake that Italians bake to celebrate international women's day.
I was surprised with its taste and delicate texture and I strongly recommend this cake if you have the chance.
The Cannelloni and doughnut were really good and every other option were very tentative too.Owner response

One of my favorite cafés in Cambridge, not just for its cozy atmosphere and music, but especially for the exceptional quality of its pastries and coffee. I usually order the bombolone alla crema di pistachio, and as an Italian, I can confidently say it's the best pistachio cream I've ever tasted in my entire life—delicate, soft, fluffy, and simply heavenly.
I love sitting by the window, watching people cycling along Mill Road, while catching up with a friend. The menu is minimal yet delightful, featuring homemade pizza bread and saltimbocca for savory options, alongside pastries like filled cornetto and bombolone. Their daily patisserie selection is phenomenal, worthy of a pâtissier like Cédric Grolet. Just check out their Instagram account for a glimpse!
It's perfect for takeaways or ordering from home via Deliveroo. The place is tiny, with only three small tables inside, two seats by the window, and a small table outside. Please don’t come here—I'd like to keep this gem all to myself!
The café is run by two brothers, who split their roles between head chef, pastry creation, and front-of-house. Their hard work, dedication, and passion deserve recognition and support. Small businesses like this truly deserve to be celebrated and shared.

Thank you Justine 🙏
Fantastic basque cheesecake with delicious berry sauce. The coffee is Fantastic, we had The Modigliani Mochiato which was incredibly delicious coffee with Nutella in the cup. The teapigs tea is also very good. The atmosphere is lovely, chilled, and really cool. Thank you, highly recommend.

Amazing coffee and pastries! The pistachio flower with raspberry filling was divine. Not cheap though but the great quality and flavour were so worth it. Friendly staff and good service. The shop itself is super small so it may be a bit cramped inside for eating in.

Hello Mingjia, thanks for the visit and the good review.
One of the best Tiramisus I’ve ever had! So moist, so fluffy, and so rich in flavor. Love it especially because the ladyfingers are completely soaked and “melted” in espresso and mascarpone :D (although personally I’d prefer even subtler sweetness, this one goes well with coffee as a morning treat.) Definitely worth the 50-min walk.
